Things change.
If there is one thing I can always count on
it is change.
This is Tanner, the day after Emily was born in 1994.
Needless to say,
His world had just completely changed.
Up to that point it was just him and me.
Buddies.
Mother and son.
We walked to the park.
We spent hours at construction sites watching the front end loaders.
We never missed the trash truck.
Tanner rode on the back of my bike around town.
We shopped, we drank apple juice, and we picked out hot wheel trucks.
It was a simple happy time filled with Barney, book stores, and Richard Scary.
In 5 weeks this sweet boy will graduate from high school and in a few short months be off to college.
Needless to say,
His world is about to completely change... again.
and mine too.
We'll still be buddies, mother and son.
We'll weather this like we did all the other changes...
right?
Deep breath. Am I ready for this?

oh that is one great picture! I wasnt sure if it was Philip or Tanner.
You will be an amazing mother just like you have all these years I have watched!
I cherish my emails from Brendon when he went away to school. He was still "my boy" and it took relationship to a great place of sharing deeper thoughts and feelings than when he was at home. I pray the same for you. It is the beginning of a new chapter for you...and it isn't the same, so very different, but good.
He was such a cute little boy!!! I still look at your kids as that one picture you have on the side of you blog that was then... love your family!
One is never really ready for a child to leave the nest, but it's the best thing for them. As they continue on their journey you will enjoy seeing all the things you've taught them, especially when they have children of their own. This is all part of the plan. I'm proud of your successes as a wife and mother Sara Jane. Well done!
Your Grampa Davis took that picture of Tanner. I remember it like it was yesterday. Makes it that much more special. Love you
I remember bb-sitting Tanner once. He was so sad that you weren't with him that he cried a lot. To cheer him up, we drove around in the dark, looking for fire hydrant reflectors, and shiny night-time cat eyes.
OKay, the stupid sappy music in the background while reading this made it absolutely IMPOSSIBLE not to cry!! Feeling your pain girlfriend... feeling your pain!!
